Districts of Israel
Districts of Israel
There are six main districts of Israel, known in Hebrew as mehozot and fifteen sub-districts known as nafot . Each sub-district is further divided into natural regions, of which there are 50.
Note: In daily use, the word mehoz is translated as “province", and nafa as “municipality". The words were accidentally transliterated as “district” and “subdistrict".
The Golan sub-district, which contains 4 natural regions, is included in this amount, although it is not recognized by the UN to be Israeli territory. The Judea and Samaria district, however, is not included, since it has not been annexed by Israel.
